Do’s & Don’ts during January & February

The months of January & February combined together are known as shishir Rhutu. During this period the atmospheric conditions are rough & cold. Due to the cold climate there will be natural rise in the appetite and digestion. During this period if the person doesn’t follow proper diet may leads to Aggravation of Kapha &Vata which may leads to certain problems like Cough, Cold, Joints pain, skin disorders etc.

Do’s
Diet –Wheat, Rice, Lady’s finger, Pumpkin, Spinach, Red Amaranth, Cauliflower, Ridge gourd, Potato, Garlic, Ginger, Carrot, Beet root, Lentil, Black gram, Horse gram, Lemon, Jackfruit, Papaya, Grapes, Pomegranate, Apple, Custard apple, Almond, Cashew nut, Figs, Black raisins, Dates, Apricot, Milk, Ghee, Cottage cheese, Sweets, Pistachio, Walnut, Goat meat, Chicken, Fishes, Lobster.

Lifestyle –Tailabhyanga (Application of oil to the whole body and head), Swedana (Fomentation), Exposure to the sunlight, Warm clothes, appropriate amount of exercise.

Don’ts
Diet –Finger millet, Barley, Maize, Pearl millet, Green gram, Red Kidney Beans, Green peas, Lima beans, Drumstick, Bitter gourd, Brinjal, Cluster beans, Capsicum, Tomato, German Turnip, little gourd, Cucumber, Radish, Black pepper, Red chillies, Mustard, Green Beery, Guava, Banana, Tamarind, Groundnuts, Sprouts, Dried meat, fishes, Curds, Cold water, Sharbet, Ice cream.

Life style –Staying at cold places, Irregular and less food, Cold water bath, excess exercise, exposure to cold wind, excessive sexual indulgence.
